On the collective level, we are experiencing a time of intense transformation. The events of the past year, including the exposure of greed, corruption and deceptions at the highest levels, leave no doubt that things are not what they appeared to be. Because of the ensuing global economic turmoil and dwindling natural resources, more people now see that our fate is intertwined with that of people of other nations and with that of the planet. Sharing the view that, as a country, we have been headed in the wrong direction, people voted for new leadership and share the hope that it will bring positive social change starting in 2009.
As you embark on 2009 and make your New Years’ resolutions, it’s a good time to evaluate whether you personally are headed in the right direction. When you reflect on this question, I encourage you to look at your life from the perspective of a soul on a journey whose purpose is to discover who you are and then to live your truth. From this vantage point, ask your self, does my outer life reflect who I really am inside? Or, do I need to make a course correction? If so, what steps can I take to be living a life more closely connected to the core of my being? What can I do to bring my life into balance with my priorities and passions?
Remember that each moment offers you a choice to say yes! to being more fully you. If you are receptive to the guidance of your soul, which is your direct link to the Infinite, allowing it to lead you on your journey, you will always be heading in the right direction. If, instead, you’ve been letting your mind overrule your inner knowing with conditioned thinking or deference to outside authority, then you are working at cross-purposes with your soul self and may need to make some changes.
Many of us are hoping and praying for change in the year to come on both the collective and personal levels. Yet, fear of change may paralyze us. Afraid of making the “wrong” choice, we stubbornly cling to our habitual life like a dog holding onto its bone. Because there is no right or wrong other than to be true to your self, let go of your past, forget about trying to satisfy socially sanctioned standards of so-called perfection, and open up the gift that is you and celebrate it! Be open to the infinite possibilities and promise that the unknown holds for you on the journey of self-discovery including the ripening of new potentials, new opportunities, new adventures, and new realities.
Remember: What you choose is what you create. So, choose to enlist your mind in the service of your soul purpose. Make it your New Year’s intention to let go of what limits you and to take a step forward each day on the journey of discovering and being your authentic self.
Wishing you beautiful journeys in the year to come!!!!!!
QUOTE OF THE MONTH:
Your reason and your passion are the rudder and the sails of your seafaring soul. If either your sails or your rudder be broken, you can but toss and drift, or else be held at a standstill in mid-seas. For reason, ruling alone, is a force confining; and passion, unattended, is a flame that burns to its own destruction. Therefore let your soul exalt your reason to the height of passion, that it may sing; And let it direct your passion with reason, that your passion may live through its own daily resurrection, and like the phoenix rise above its own ashes.
